About Us

Our Story

The Purposeful Leader – previously known as Muru Leadership – was founded by Rob Cross in 2018.

From an early age, Rob developed a deep passion for understanding people and leadership. During his 20 year career, Rob has worked as a Civil Engineer in the Australian Air Force and a variety of blue-chip companies across the world. In each role, Rob’s focus was on developing leaders to improve performance and empower people to deliver their best contribution.

Rob focuses on ‘practising what he preaches’ as a leader and human, even when life and work get challenging. In creating The Purposeful Leader, Rob is fulfilling the purpose in life – to create positive, systemic change by unlocking the potential in others.

Through The Purposeful Leader, Rob brings together over 20 years of research, practical experience in developing others and hands-on leadership to create a new approach to unlocking true potential.

Based on over 20 years of research and practice, ‘The Purposeful Leader’ evolved from Rob’s trademarked ‘The 3 Questions’™ methodology, which was previously delivered through Muru Leadership.

In working with professionals across the globe over the last 20 years, two key observations were made. Firstly, professionals were not finding purpose across the roles they performed in life. Secondly, they were not being purposeful in how they directed their attention and energy each day. From these observations, ‘The Purposeful Leader’ was formed.
